That’s because I was able to scan the cover images, and then let my computer figure out how to arrange them into a pattern. When you’re standing back from the wall, you can see there’s a geometric method to the color madness. It wasn’t an accident that TV Guides played a big role in this room. TV Guide was good enough to put me on the cover and donate 10 percent of sales of that issue to Camp Barnabas, so we wanted to give them their due. And it was a great cause.
While there’s nothing wrong with furnishing an entertainment room with lots of cushy couches and Barco loungers, you can also go with lots of different chairs and floor pillows. Instead of a sofa in front of the TV, there’s a semicircle of bright saucer chairs, and rather than a classic card table, there are groupings of TV Guide furniture. An assortment of chairs plus some floor cushions can do quite nicely Gust make sure that you have enough of them), Piece, providing room for more stuff and flat surfaces to display pottery and other decorative items. The combination of these elements: the funky furniture, the retro rug, and the unusual storage pieces-give the room personality. But what really makes it a place you want to hang out in is color. The citrusy assortment of orange, yellow, and lime keeps the tenor lighthearted, though, that there are also a lot of whites and neutrals thrown into the mix to prevent color overkill.
